Being a writer?

Yesterday, someone had shared with me his dreams in the future, what he wants to do in the future and some of his frustration about his current condition. One of his many ambitious dreams is being a writer. 

What he said had made me think about my own dreams and ambitions, what am I going to be in 5 or 10 years from now? Sometimes, I do mad at myself because I didn't even try to achieve what I want to do the most. I do have my own hope and nevertheless I am also very thankful of what I am now. 

Yes, I did dreamed to be a writer too, I love literature, I love books, I love words, to me words are very strong. Words can change the world, words can change someone's life and words are also very dangerous for it can influence people effectively.

Today, I am rummaging through my files and I had found an old article that I wrote for my school magazine a long long time ago.  It was a short story that somehow managed to be published in   the school magazine and I was quite fond of it. The short story is entitled as The most embarrassing moment in my life and of course it is a fiction.

Here it goes...

The most embarrassing moment in my life

Sometimes, when I am sitting alone, I would remember some old memories about my past and I would start laughing my head off. It was the most embarrassing moment in my life that had happened a long time ago when I was still a student, but the memory was as clear as if it had happened yesterday.

It was a marvellous and fine morning that was definitely meant for holidays; unfortunately that day was a school day. As always I will be going to school by bus and I had to get to the bus stop early in order to catch the bus. I always get up early in the morning but that morning I had woke up a little late, so I had to take a bath and dressed quickly. Actually the bus stop is just in front of my house but I preferred to get there early just to look at a very beautiful girl that I like. It was just a ‘puppy love’; nevertheless, I really adore the girl a lot. I always meet the girl at the bus stop but I didn’t have the courage to talk to her and I didn’t even know her name. I didn’t really care about that, I was feeling contented just by looking at her lovely face every day.

It was 7.30 a.m. and the bus had finally arrived. The bus was quite full that morning. There was only one seat left so I had decided to let the girl have it. She was smiling at me when I let her have the seat. I was so happy that I felt like I was flying without wings. I was really happy at that moment, so I didn’t care if I had to stand all the way to school.

The girl was still smiling at me and it made me happier than ever. I felt that this is the happiest day of my entire life. Suddenly a girl that was sitting beside the girl that I like was looking at me weirdly and then she started laughing at me. I was starting to get uncomfortable and I decided to just ignore her, but then a boy who was standing behind me was laughing too. I have had enough of all this laughing. Am I just being paranoid or was there something wrong with my face or my clothes that made them laughed?

The girl that I like then stood up suddenly, blushing and whispered to me softly, “Look at your school uniform” I slowly looked down at my uniform and I gasped out loud. I was so shocked and embarrassed that I didn’t dare to look at anyone. I can feel my face burn and started to blush furiously.

Do you want to know why they were laughing? It was because I was wearing my school uniform’s inside out and to my horror I forgot to zip my pants in my hurry just now. You guys would understand me would you? How embarrassing it was to forget zipping your pants, and God help me please I didn’t want to describe any further of the view in store.  

My beautiful day was over. I was very lucky when the bus stopped and I realized that I had finally arrived at my school. I didn’t waste any more of my precious time, I quickly ran and jumped out of the bus. I was relieved to think that the girl of my dreams wasn’t in the same school with me.

Then I rushed to the toilet to smarten myself. I had tried to act cool but unfortunately as I was walking to the toilet a few of other student had seen me in my pitiful condition and they had started snickering at me. I had started to run to the toilet. The journey seemed to last forever. Finally, I had arrived at the toilet and smartened myself a bit before going to my class.

It was really funny when I thought about it now. Do you want to know what had happened to my dream girl? That is the funniest part of all. She had finally become my wife and she always teased me about our first interaction with each other, which was my most embarrassing moment of my life. I can’t ever forget that moment for the rest of my life!
